On the agenda this week: the Department of Health has published the first mandate to the NHS Commissioning Board, setting out objectives for the NHS and reaffirming its founding principles; 100,000 people with long-term conditions will benefit from health technologies such as telehealth, starting with seven ‘pathfinder’ organisations; and a new vaccination programme will begin next year to protect babies under four months against the highly infectious rotavirus, which causes vomiting and diarrhoea.
